Flange Types
Orifice Flanges
Flanges designed for flow measurement with orifice plates.
Orifice flanges are specialized flanges designed to hold an orifice plate for differential pressure flow measurement. They look similar to standard weld neck or slip on flanges but include two additional features: pressure tap holes (typically 1" NPT) on each side of the orifice plate location, and jack screw holes that allow the flange pair to be spread apart for orifice plate insertion and removal.
Manufactured per ASME B16.36, orifice flanges are supplied in mated pairs with matching raised faces or ring type joint grooves. The pressure taps are positioned on the pipe centerline to provide accurate upstream and downstream pressure readings. Tap spacing follows the requirements of the flow measurement standard (AGA, ISO, or other) specified by the project.
Flanges.IO supplies orifice flange sets in all standard sizes and pressure classes, complete with orifice plates, gaskets, jack screws, and tap fittings when requested. Our engineering team can assist with orifice sizing calculations and material selection for your flow measurement application. Contact us for pricing on complete orifice metering assemblies.
