Spectacle Blinds
Class 2500 Spectacle Blinds
Figure-8 blinds for Class 2500 piping isolation
Class 2500 Spectacle Blinds are the highest pressure class of figure-8 blinds covered by ASME B16.48. These are specialized components manufactured in small quantities for the most extreme-pressure applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries.
The blind disc at Class 2500 is extremely thick relative to the bore diameter, and the overall assembly weight is dominated by the solid blind disc. Ring-type joint face configurations are standard at this pressure class, with the RTJ groove machined into both faces of each disc to match the companion flange grooves.
Applications for Class 2500 spectacle blinds are rare and typically limited to high-pressure polyethylene reactors, supercritical fluid processing equipment, and specialized research facilities. Each unit is custom-manufactured with full material traceability and comprehensive NDE, and delivery lead times of 12 to 16 weeks are common.
