Orifice Union B16.36
Class 300 Slip-On Orifice Flanges
B16.36 slip-on orifice flanges for Class 300 applications
Class 300 Slip-On Orifice Flanges offer a more economical alternative to weld neck versions while retaining the same pressure tap and orifice plate retention features specified in B16.36. The slip-on hub slides over the pipe and is fillet-welded at both the face and back, making field installation straightforward.
Like their weld neck counterparts, slip-on orifice flanges include two 1-inch NPT tapped holes for differential pressure sensing. The bore of the flange is slightly larger than the pipe OD, and care must be taken to ensure the pipe end is flush with the flange face so that the orifice plate seats properly against the raised face gasket surface.
These flanges are suitable for steady-state flow measurement applications where thermal cycling and vibration are minimal. For critical custody transfer metering or high-cycle service, weld neck orifice flanges are preferred due to their superior fatigue resistance.
